Yoga Flow for Acid Reflux & Heartburn - Standing Poses & Seated Forward Folds

If you are having a rough bout with acid reflux, a regular yoga class might be quite uncomfortable and could make matters worse. This yoga sequence aims to avoid aggravating your heartburn by using only standing poses, like high lunge and warrior II, and seated forward folds.

Be sure to grab some pillows or a bolster and block before you start because savasana will be in an inclined position. And note that the intention is to keep the head above the chest, so if that is not working for you in any particular yoga pose (frog) then feel free to come a little out of the pose until you are at a comfortable angle.

Also, try to keep the core relatively soft and avoid practicing with uddiyana bandha, the abdominal lock.

Lastly, though excessive food and drink, especially during the holidays, can make acid reflux worse so can stress. So be sure to be mindful, not only of the foods you are eating but of your stress levels. Be extra sure to get the most out of savasana! Why not even add an extra 10 minutes.

Time to get to it: feeling better every day!

People who do not set weight loss goals and layout a plan tend to give up after a few weeks. Here you will see some ideas that can help make exercise interesting and fun, which can lead to improved results.

Dancing to music is a natural reaction that even babies have. When people hear music, it is natural for them to begin moving. Listening to music while you exercise can definitely make it more enjoyable and effective. Dancing is a fantastic way to get moving without getting too tired.

Bring some friends along with you to your workouts. This can easily become a social engagement that is fun and exciting. When you exercise with someone else, time can go by a lot faster. Pleasant company is distracting enough so that you won't focus on your aching muscles. You might be surprised by how much fun you and your friends can have while exercising together.

Interactive fitness games are just one way to add entertainment value to your workout routine. Usually you can forget the fact that you are getting your burn on and concentrate on having fun. If you are having a fun, it is easy to get the exercise you need, without worrying about boredom or frustration.

Once you decide to start an exercise regimen, look for some workout clothes you actually like. If you put on grungy, unremarkable exercise clothing, you will not feel energized and motivated for a positive workout. By having exercise clothing that you love, you will be motivated to get dressed for exercising each day.

If your exercise routine is monotonous you will get bored quickly. Don't let boredom distract you from your exercise goals. Turn things inside out and do your routine backward. If you stay interested, you will work out more often. Keeping your exercise routine fresh is great motivation to keep coming back to the gym and trying new things. Quitting makes it all that much harder to start exercising again.

Give yourself a reward every so often as a way to reward yourself and stay on track. You need to make your reward something that makes you want to keep on track. You can try a nice dinner out, or maybe even get yourself a massage at a spa. Don't go too crazy with the rewards. Keep it modest and relatively simple; you don't need to shower yourself with gifts each time you reach a fitness goal. When you remind yourself about how good you are doing it can keep you motivated.

A workout routine can be a lot of fun. There is no reason for it to be anything but enjoyable. Exercising doesn't have to be done in a cookie-cutter fashion because you have so many different options. Think about the advice given here, so you can start the best workout possible for you.
