This ole country boy had a hankerin’ for some down residence, Vegan Country Sausage Gravy! So I experimented with my Cauliflower Crumble combine. Oh man….Y’all gotta try out this. I mean this stuff is significantly excellent.
I know I know, “Why do all you ‘Vegans’ have to try to copy the food items you’re supposedly giving up? ”
I can nearly hear it now.
Nicely allow me inform you….we give UP the meat because it’s horribly poor for US, just as significantly as it’s horribly bad for the animals. But, as a person who was raised on the stuff (like several of you I’m positive)…. it IS anything we get a taste for.
I do Enjoy the taste of sausage – I’m just not ready to endanger my overall health, allow alone kill a poor defenseless animal in buy to consume it. But NOW….. I can practically have my cake and consume it also. (vegan cake of program).
The ‘sausage’ is my cauliflower, mushroom, walnut combine with additional spices to resemble nation sausage. A tiny thyme, a tiny sage, a little maple syrup…..and allow me inform you, the flavor is SPOT ON.
And when you mix it with a creamy white peppered gravy?
Psh. It’s EXACTLY how I don't forget it!
I utilised to stroll down to the corner diner each and every morning before college to meet my mom. She would have coffee with her pals and she’d buy me a large ole plate of Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast. Healthy? No way. But tasty? Oh guy……the Best.
And now? Now we have THIS!
Vegan Nation Sausage Gravy. Pour it on my Vegan Buttermilk Biscuits, or toast, or even potatoes!

Vegan Country Sausage Gravy
 
 
The Biscuits

The Sausage
Now, with the biscuits our of the way…what about that Sausage?
It’s just like generating the crumbles for my Cauliflower Tacos.
I utilised 1½ cups of Cauliflower Rice, 4 oz of Mushrooms, and one cup of Walnuts – all chopped to a uniform, hamburger-ish dimension. Mix this in a huge bowl and add the Soy Sauce, Molasses, Maple Syrup, and Liquid Smoke.
Mix properly and then add all the spices. Make certain every thing is mixed up Really excellent and then flip it out onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Spread the mixture evenly and bake for 30 minutes in a 350° F oven.
Right after thirty minutes, flip/combine with a spatula and proceed baking for yet another 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and set aside.
 
The Gravy

Pour the dry mixture into a skillet (I utilized my cast-iron) and toast it more than med heat for a couple of minutes. It will smell – nicely – toasty following a couple of minutes. Increase heat to med-substantial and gradually pour in 3 cups of Unsweetened Almond Milk, whisking continuously.

Vegan County Sausage Gravy
Last night this ole nation boy had a hankerin’ for some down property, Vegan Nation Sausage Gravy! Y’all gotta try this. I indicate this things is significantly good.
Sausage
- 1 1/two cups Cauliflower (chopped fine)
- four oz Mushrooms (chopped fine)
- 1 cup Walnuts (chopped fine)
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce (lower sodium)
- 1 tsp Molasses
- 1 tsp Maple Syrup
- one/four tsp Liquid Smoke
- 2 Tbs Nutritional Yeast
- one 1/two tsp Rubbed Sage
- one/2 tsp Ground Pepper
- 1/two tsp Garlic Powder
- one/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/four tsp Ground Thyme
Gravy
- 1/4 cup Flour
- one Tbs Nutritional Yeast
- one tsp Rubbed Sage
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/two tsp Ground Pepper
- one/eight tsp Ground Thyme
- 3-4 cups Almond Milk (unsweetened)
Sausage
-
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F

Chop Cauliflower, Mushrooms, and Walnuts finely, to uniform dimension

Combine together in bowl and include Soy Sauce, Molasses, Maple Syrup, and Liquid Smoke.  Mix effectively.

Include remaining spices and mix really effectively

Flip out evenly onto parchment lined baking sheet and bake for thirty minutes

After thirty minutes, flip/mix with spatula and carry on baking for an further 15 minutes

Set aside
Gravy
