Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Stillness with Dr. Melissa West



I'm happy to introduce y'all to Dr. Melissa West! She created this restorative class especially for the Body Positive Yoga family!

Do you feel like you are rushing through life, completing one task after another, without a moment to pause? If so, this restorative yoga class for stillness is for you. In this class we explore the cultural epidemic of busyness and what it is doing to our bodies, minds and emotions. Through my own personal story of enforced stillness we will come into restorative yoga postures and experience stillness in our bodies. We will listen to our bodies and learn what it is that they are asking for. This restorative yoga class includes every movement of your spine including forward folds, backbends, twists, side bends and forward folds. We will finish our class with a poem by Mary Oliver called Today on stillness. You will need a bolster or a rolled up blanket for this class.

Try to avoid too much repetition. Mix up your workouts often. You are going to slow down over time if your workouts become boring to you. Without the proper motivation, you might stop altogether. Keep your routine varied. This will ensure that you can remain engaged when you plan on working out over an extended period of time.
