Breakfast Sausage Recipe (It’s a nutritional powerhouse!)

That didn’t perform out so effectively, as diet plan tips goes.

What we’ve learned is that excess fat is not to be feared. Specifically when it’s naturally occurring. Like pork. No guy-made, hydrogenated stuff there. Just the true factor.

My primary breakfast recommendation is to eat plenty of protein and naturally happening fats, and fewer carbohydrates.

Why?

You’ll remain full and have vitality longer (and not be tempted to grab a muffin off the conference room table.)

That’s why homemade breakfast sausage has turn out to be a single of my favorite breakfasts. Heck, it’s excellent for lunch or dinner as well.

But sausage patties have a bad status…maybe for very good purpose. Here’s what you’ll find inside a Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage Patty:

PORK, WATER, POTASSIUM LACTATE, SALT, SPICES, SUGAR, SODIUM PHOSPHATES, DEXTROSE, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, SODIUM DIACETATE, CARAMEL Color.

You don’t have to be a scientist to see that there’s sugar, MSG and colour extra to these undesirable boys. And the good quality of the pork…? There’s no telling, but I’m betting on the most affordable, factory-farmed meat possible.

Don’t fret. Generating your very own breakfast sausage couldn’t be less complicated. When you make your very own, you can include all sorts of extra goodness.

Use the very best high quality pork you can locate, from pastured animals.

Tends to make: 10 patties
Ingredients
  • one Tbsp. dried rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp. fennel seeds
  • &frac12 cup shredded carrots
  • &frac12 cup minced kale (can use frozen kale)
  • &frac12 cup cooked lentils
  • one lb. pork
  • three cloves garlic, minced
  • one tsp. salt
  • Few cranks of black pepper
Guidelines
  1. Pulse rosemary and fennel seeds in a grinder or little food processor right up until a fine powder types. (I use the Magic Bullet.)
  2. If you favor not to see chunks of vegetables or lentils, you can pulse individuals in a meals processor as nicely.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a big bowl. Combine with your hands until effectively combined. Form 10 patties.
  4. Heat a cast iron skillet more than medium-large heat. Add sausage patties and cook right up until browned on every single side.
