How To Make Cold Brew Iced Coffee In a French Press

cold-brew-iced-coffee-french-pressIn case you’ve been residing below a rock, cold brew refers to coffee created with cold or space temperature water. The result is much much less acidic than typical coffee and very tasty.

As in, I drink it black! No milk or sugar required.

It’s that very good. Of program, you can add whatever you want to your cold brew. But I come to feel best on a diet program very reduced in dairy and sugar.

Prior to finding cold brew I had gone without coffee for years (gasp!) since I couldn’t stand it black.

So happy to have coffee back in my existence.

The simple procedure of generating cold brew is easy:

one. Get coarsely ground coffee beans.

2. Combine with cold or room temperature water. (This is frequently done in a mason jar).

3. Steep overnight. Strain.

It’s genuinely that last part that I identified to be a soreness in the butt. With no Mr. Coffee undertaking the job, straining proved to be a bit tedious and often messy.

Enter stage left: The French press.

A French press can be utilized for typical “hot brewed” coffee, but without having a created-in timer I always located it irritating. Nevertheless, it’s excellent for cold brew’s overnight soak.

In the morning, all you have to do is PRESS. And it’s done.

The cold brew technique generates a coffee focus. If you want to drink it hot, include sizzling water. If you want to make iced coffee, just add ice. As the ice melts, it will become diluted but not taste super watered-down.

I use a easy 34 oz. French press, like this one particular.

And I use organic, decaf, coarsely roasted coffee beans. It functions just the very same with caffeinated beans but, alas, I stick to decaf to preserve my adrenal glands content.

To make your cold brew iced coffee:

1. Add three/four-one cup coarsely ground coffee to a 34 oz. French press. (That’s about the same dimension as a quart mason jar.)

two. Fill with water.

3. Combine properly.

4. Insert plunger but do not press down. Allow it steep overnight, on the counter or in the refrigerator. (I never ever have space in my fridge.)

five. In the morning, press the plunger down. Fill a glass with ice, then pour your cold brew and appreciate.
